Your House Plants and Window Film

On a recent appointment to measure, estimate and share about the benefits of window tinting, our customer asked about the effects of window film on house plants. We explained that in the years since we have been providing the film to our customers, we have not had a single negative comment regarding house plants.

We realized, that many of you may have the same concerns .... so we want to set your minds at ease.

Generally speaking there are no ill effects on house plants. Once your window film is installed, until your plants become acclimated to the new lighting environment there may be some slower growth and flowering. Fruit bearing trees may also slow down in producing fruit as well, until they acclimate to the new conditions.

The majority of all plants will do wonderful, and typically even thrive after a short time in the more favorable climate.

If there are circumstances where plants wilt in the afternoon towards the end of the day, they may stop wilting after your film is installed. The ultimate authority to be consulted about any changes regarding your house plants should be your local greenhouse or nursery (Visit Barefoot in the Garden on the Forum and converse with Premier Nursery) . These experts should be consulted especially with questions regarding a particular species of plant.

So the end result, is that window film, or as some people refer to it, as window tinting, can result in a more comfortable environment for house plants and their owners.

The benefits of having window film / glass tinting installed include cooler temperatures in the warmer months, insulation of escaping heat in the cooler months, lower cooling and utility bills, less glare, protection against fading and damage to furnishings and happier house plants.
