Last year the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority instituted a law authorizing the Congestive Relief Fee ( Additional Grantor Tax)- as well as other fees and taxes to raise money for its projects… well the Virginia Supreme Court just recently has ruled this to be unconstitutional. This means all taxes that were collected after Jan 1 will likely be refunded to those individuals that had a closing/settlement prior to this ruling. You can find how much you were taxed by looking on the HUD 1 you received at settlement- Line 1205 Regional Congestion Fee. VRSAM will keep you updated as to further developments on this topic.
