My husband is retiring in June 2009. We live overseas (Puerto Rico) and we cannot sell our home. Now we are faced with a possible foreclosure. I do not believe this is right. My husband served 20 years of service to lose everything when he retires. We cannot stay in Puerto Rico, due to the fact that my children do not speak any Spanish. I believe the government should help military families that can't sell the homes. At least buy the homes from them (if it cannot be sold by realtor etc...), just as the federal government helps the Federal Agency with their employees.

Have you guys looked into the HAP program offered by DoD? Have you thought about renting it for now? There has to be something for us military families. The government seems to be helping everyone else except the military families. Why do we sacrafice so much for our country & we get nothing in return!

I just found this message board yesterday & I am glad I did. It helps to know that my family is not alone! Good luck with your decision.

We are learning more daily about the HAP, and unfortunately believe there will be a lot of disappointed folks given the very minimal assistance it offers.
