I am a 49 Yaer old Veteran smiley, with a family of Four, I have worked very hard all my life and bought our first home 15 Years ago. The one that there trying to take away now. I have always paid my Home on time and never had any problems, untill September 2007 when i sufferd a stroke, i emmediatly went back to work and after a few months was told i needed a Triple Bypass, well in May of 2008 i had that Triple Bypass and it left me spastic on my right side, I am now on SSD and my income has gone down by 2/3 and i can not meet my obligations at this time. I have contacted Countrywide cry at least a dozen times and get no ware with them. I am seeking help in modiying my excisting Loan to help me and my family untill i am fit to get back to work, i have never had a problem like this in my life, I have a wife who has been a housewife and a great mother to my kids even with 2 herneated disks, a 13 year old son in Private school and they help all they can with us, and a 20 year old son who is bi-polar and i am there sole means of support. I am not asking for a free ride, but merely to help me and my Family during our Hardest time in our lives. I have been married for 24 Years smiley and i feel with all the programs out there ( which i can not find) someone could PLEASE steer us in the right direction. Countrywide will not help or even try to disscuss this with me, all i get is, pay & catch up or we will start forclosure prodeedings against you, i keep borrowing money which i will have to pay back eventualy to family and friends, besides paying our bills and House note once i do return to work, which i pray is soon. I have heard and read about reducing the rate of the mortgage and extending the time from 30 Yrs. to 40 Yrs. yet Countrywide wont even consider it or talk to me about it. With just my Co-pays for medical treatment i cant save a diime. Can someone please help or steer us in the right direction... huh cry

Eric,

We are very sorry to hear about your difficulties and hope you recover and get back on your feet physically and financially.

We have had numerous complaints about Countrywide, and other lending institutions. One of our clients emailed the CEO of the company directly and received immediate assistance. I don't have that email address but it is apparrently out there somewhere.

This link to another part of our site has as much info as we have on your questions.

I strongly encourage you to call / write your Congressman / Senators and to contact the VA. Despite all of the chest thumping by our elected officials, many of the programs we hear about are "optional participation" for the lenders.

I would also contact NACA (google it). It is a non-profit organization that helps families stay in their homes.

Finally, I would not hesitate to contact an attorney with a background and track record of assisting families in this situation. Realize these are not precise answers to your question, but hope it helps.

Sorry to hear about your situation, if you were at least 62 I would refer you to a Reverse Mortgage. But you are too young to qualify for a Reverse Mortgage. I have seen info for others in the same or similar situations, let me get back to you with what I find. There are suppose to be a number of programs just for this.
Hang in there and have a blessed day.

The people are losing their moral while becoming modern. The society needs to be attentive that moral values. Well things needs to be modernized but keeping intact with moral values.
But the safety the military homeowner is a serious issue.
