In the past 3 days, I have had 3 phone calls from Military Families in financial distress. They are all upside down on their mortgages and facing PCS orders with no where to turn. We are making our best effort to get attention to this "train wreck" for our Service Members and Families. I most strongly encourage you to state your circumstances on this forum...it will be ammunition for us to go forward to Congress and other entities. Then, write your home state Congressmen and Senators. Have your parents, siblings, friends, and other Military Families do the same! Tell your elected officials that Military Families who lose money on home sales need an immediate "tax credit" for that loss! And that they need and deserve parity with other federal employees on relocation benefits. VR SAM is working on a site that fast tracts this process and will let you know when it is available. I have been in germany for almost 2 years..I was stationed at Keesler AFB mississippi before getting orders here. I bought a house in mississippi then 2 months later got orders. I have struggled with the payments on this house since I got to germany..With the terrible price of insurance I barelly break even renting my home.. I have tried selling, but the market is so bad it's almost impossible. Now I'm divorced and getting medically discharged..The insurance drive's my payments so high I have no idea how I will be able to put this house on the market again to try to sell. I would never be able to afford the $1200 house note that once was $950..... |

Thanks for sharing your situation with us. I don't have any easy answers but believe the more such stories we collect, the more clout we have with those who can make changes. I hope your medical circumstances and with your house have a speedy resolution. Joe |
